ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid has been chosen as executive of the 12-part Parliamentary Committee on Appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and individuals from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, MNA, proposed the name of Senator Pervaiz Rashid for the administrator of the council. Nawab Muhammad Yusuf Talpur, MNA, backed the proposed name and there was no other applicant, along these lines, Senator Pervaiz Rashid was announced as the chose director.

In the wake of being chosen as administrator, Pervaiz Rashid expressed gratitude toward every one of the individuals for resting trust in him by choosing him as the director of the panel. He said discretionary changes had been presented for guaranteeing an autonomous ECP. “Endeavors would be made to select the ECP individuals in the wake of advancing an accord,” he included.

He said the board of trustees would take a stab at constituting an autonomous and unbiased ECP having certainty and trust of the general population.

The ECP has been useless after the retirement of its four individuals and now the arrangement would be made on the premise of 22nd Constitutional Amendment.
