Germany’s Schweinsteiger retires from international football

German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has resigned from global football, he reported on Friday, saying he was disillusioned to have not completed his profession with a win at Euro 2016 in France.

“It wasn’t to be and I need to acknowledge it,” he said in an announcement on his Twitter channel.

“The notable and passionate high was winning the World Cup in 2014,” included the Manchester United player who had 13 seasons with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
